“Bucket Filling” at St. Louis School
At St. Louis School we talk a lot about love – love for
Jesus, for our families, our friends. As
teachers we want our students to know they are loved and treasured by us. But we recognize the need to teach children
how to love others. We believe that children
who learn how to express kindness and love lead happier lives. When you love and care about others and show
that love with what you say and do, you fell good and you fill your own bucket
too.
Using Carol McCloud’s book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” we introduced ‘Bucket Filling” to our SLS students in August, 2013. Our 1st quarter challenge was to fill one bulletin board full of ‘bucket filling’ names. Those names were placed in a bucket on October 21st. Winners were able to choose from an assortment of prizes – Walmart gift cards, giant candy bars, Pizza Hut personal pan pizzas, Culvers ice cream treat, or free homework passes.
